Thomas Andrews (Anders), son of Sandy ANDREWS (ANDERS) & Sarah MONCUS, was born Sept. 15, 1857, in Grayson Co., VA, and died Feb. 5, 1928, in Alleghany Co., NC. He married Lucinda "Sinda" Cheek, daughter of Chesley CHEEK & Phebe WOODRUFF, Sept. 8, 1879, in Alleghany Co., NC. She was born Mar. 19, 1841, in Ashe Co., NC, and died May 1, 1921, in Alleghany Co., NC. Thomas and Lucinda (Cheek) Andrews are buried at the Pleasant Home Union Baptist Church in Alleghany Co., NC.

1. Rhoda Andrews, b. Dec. 1880, Alleghany Co., NC; d. 1954; m. her 2nd cousin, Elbert Sevier ANDERS, son of Osborne ANDERS & Rachel TAYLOR, Jan. 14, 1907, Grayson Co., VA (b. Mar. 21, 1885; d. Sept. 16, 1942.)

Notes

homas Andrews (Anders) was born in March 1857 to Sandy and Sarah Anders, according to the birth records of Grayson Co., VA (New River Notes).  However, Thomas' gravestone at the Pleasant Home Union Baptist Church in Alleghany Co., NC, shows a birth date of Aug. 15, 1857 (see Alleghany Co. Cemeteries Through 1986, pub. by the Alleghany Co. Hist-Gen. Society).  I am not sure which is the correct date, but the birth record is probably more reliable. Thomas Andrews married Lucinda Cheek on Sept. 8, 1879, when he was 22 and she was 38.

Nov. 22, 1866. Alleghany Co., NC. Lucinda CHEEK purchased a 72-acre tract of land from her mother Phebe CHEEK and her brothers and sisters. The tract was located on the Little River adj. Richard CHEEK and William CHEEK. (Alleghany Co., NC, DB 1, pp.246-247.)  This was one of several transactions which Chesley Cheek's children entered into as a way of dividing up their father's land.

Lucinda's Death Certificate. Lucinda died on May 1, 1921, and her husband Thomas Andrews died 7 years later on Feb. 5, 1928. They are both buried at the Pleasant Home Union Baptist Church in the Vox community of Alleghany County. "Sinda" Andrews' death certificate contains the following vital information:
