Rosa Jane Cheek, daughter of Richard "Dixie" CHEEK & Martha "Patsy" JENNINGS, was born Mar. 13, 1865, in Alleghany Co., NC, and died Sept. 11, 1946, in Fountain Green, Harford Co., MD. She married (1) David Tompkins, son of Alfred & Sarah TOMPKINS, Aug. 31, 1884, Alleghany Co., NC. He was born Dec. 4, 1859, in Ashe (Alleghany) Co., NC, and died May 13, 1889, in Alleghany Co., NC; bur. Tompkins Cemetery, Mary Higgins Road, Alleghany Co., NC. She married (2) Isaiah Mitchell Coomes, son of William H. COOMES & Margaret MOORE, Apr. 16, 1892, Alleghany Co., NC. He was born Nov. 17, 1869, in Alleghany Co., NC, and died Oct. 5, 1954, in Harford Co., MD. Rosa and Isaiah Coomes are buried at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Bel Air, Harford Co., MD.

osa Jane Cheek married her first husband, David TOMPKINS, on Aug. 31, 1884, in Alleghany County, NC.  Note that G.H. Latham, Alleghany County Marriages (Heritage Books, 1996), records his last name as "Thompson," but this appears to be an error.  David Tompkins died May 13, 1889.  Rosa married her 2nd husband, Isaiah Mitchell COOMES, on Apr. 16, 1892.  They moved to Bel Air, Maryland, in the 1920's.
