James Calloway Dickens was the son of Hartwell DICKENS and Nancy RICHARDSON of Ashe and Surry County, NC.  According G.H. Latham, Alleghany County Marriages, Caloway DICKENS (son of Hartwell & Nancy DICKENS) married Celia Jane RICHARDSON (daughter of Alexander RICHARDSON & Martha CHEEK) on Aug. 27, 1873.  However, this information does not seem to be correct.  It was Gilly Richardson—not Celia Jane—who married James Calloway Dickens, which is documented in Little River Regular Baptist Association Obituary Abstracts, 1894-1998 by Mountain Heritage.  Celia Jane Richardson (Gilly's sister) actually married Calvin WILLEY.  James Calloway Dickens had an unmarried sister named Celia J. Dickens b. abt. 1845, who died Feb. 27, 1920, in Surry County, NC; this may be the source of the confusion.  (Thanks also to Len Chappel for providing additional information about this family!)
