Notes

Isom Richardson was the oldest son of Alexander RICHARDSON & Martha CHEEK of Ashe/Alleghany County, NC.  On Aug. 5, 1857, he married Jane CROUSE in Surry County, NC.  I have not found any information about her parents.  Isom and Jane are not listed in the 1870 census of Alleghany Co., NC. They were apparently living in Iowa or Illinois in 1871 when their daughter Ellen was born (the 1880 census indicates Ellen was born in Iowa; the 1930 census shows she was born in Illinois).  They returned to North Carolina by 1880 and settled in Low Gap, Surry County, NC.  Some information on this family comes from Alleghany County Heritage (1983), p.426.
