Starling Toliver was the second-youngest son of Jesse and Franky (Stamper) Toliver. His birthdate, March 13, 1806, is recorded in the Jesse Toliver family Bible. Starling lived in the Glade Creek Township of Alleghany County, NC. According to land records, he owned several parcels of land on Glade Creek, Brush Creek, the Little River, and Little Pine Creek.
